AGRICULTURAL COOPERATIVE OF FIGS & NUTS
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The project falls under the category “Expansion and Modernization of the capacity of an existing business establishment” and has been implemented within the framework of the Action “Economic Transformation of the Agricultural Sector” includes expenses that promote the green transition and digital transformation of the unit, which are the main conditions for the inclusion of investment projects in the specific subproject 1 “Innovation and Green Transition in Agricultural Product Processing”.
In summary, the investment aiming at the modernization and expansion of the existing processing unit includes:
– Building interventions in the production area (fig-Bar Room) and in the raw material storage areas (raw material warehouse, energy-saving, environmentally friendly cold storage rooms)
– Interventions in the surrounding area (shelters around the loading and unloading ramps) improving product transportation and working conditions (ceiling panels)
– Production equipment that contributes to the expansion of the unit’s production activity (Doypack for the production of various weight doypack packages, various weight pillow packages and various vacuum-type packages, new production line for the creation of a fig-bar with the main ingredient fig)
– Unhindered and unobstructed access for disabled people (Elevator, disabled w c, markings)
– Expenses for digital equipment to improve safety and operating conditions (Information Technology)
– Electric vehicles within the unit (electric pallet trucks), heavy transport vehicles (truck)
– Promotion of energy production from renewable forms (solar panels)
– Reshaping the image of the building and mainly the offices
PURPOSE AND RESULTS
With the main purpose of SYKIKI being the development of the economy of thousands fig producers through the systematic and planned development of fig cultivation leading to the production of increased quality figs, always in combination with environmental care and ultimately to the processing and marketing of high quality and added value fig products, we proceeded with the modernization and expansion of the packaging plant by supplying new, modern and environmentally friendly mechanical equipment and the supply of means of transport for the safe transport of the products.
This way we can also reduce expenses and increase the level of competitiveness internationally where we operate.
Indicatively :
• Decrease of the production cost with new mechanical equipment in packaging for 30-40% depending on the parallel achievement of improvement of the environmental footprint
• Decrease of raw material transportation cost for approximately 26%
• Increase of cold storage chamber capability at 77% with energy cost decrease by 50-55% depending the storage product
• Saving energy cost by 92% through a solar panel system of 100kwatt capability, only for lighting energy, saving is more than 50%
• Thermal insulation from roof replacement leads to an improvement in working conditions (temperature) for personnel and product storage conditions by 5°C with a corresponding benefit in energy costs
• Reshaping the image of the building and mainly the offices, improving our corporate profile to the maximum, as well as the working conditions and performance of the staff, who now work with new and up-to-date work equipment at their disposal.
