Sykiki: Cooperative
Established in 1953
The “SYKIKI” Cooperative was established in 1953. Its headquarters are located in the Municipal Department of Sperhogia in the Municipality of Kalamata.
The member-growers of the Cooperative originate from the Prefectures of Messinia, Lakonia and Arkadia.
According to its statute, the fundamental administrative organs of “SYKIKI” are the following:
The General Assembly, comprising the Group of Producers.
The Board of Directors, elected by the General Assembly of the members. It consists of nine members, each having a tenure office of five years. Its current composition has as follows:
- President: Papageorgiou Panagiotis
- Vice-President: Aliferis Vassilios
- Registrar: Dellis Giorgos
- Treasurer: Sabatsiotis Nikolaos
- Members: Velmahos Stauros, Therios Panagiotis, Dymenos Ioannis, Karoutzos Dionysios, Apostolakis Panagiotis
The Supervisory Council elected by the General Assembly of the members.
It consists of five members, each having a tenure office of five years. Its current composition has as follows:
- President: Panousis Konstantinos
- Registrar: Vlachakis Panagiotis
- Members: Apostolopoulos Panagiotis, Georgopoulos Konstantinos, Trakas Nikolaos
“SYKIKI” employs an experienced and perfectly trained staff, which guarantees its harmonious function, aiming at the best possible result, with Director Mr. Angelopoulos George and Vice Manager Mr. Lagos Lampros.
Purpose - Objective
The objective of “SYKIKI” lies in developing an economy for fig producers, which is accomplished due to a systematic and well-planned expansion of the fig tree cultivation.
The main solicitude of “SYKIKI” is improving the fig quality, combined with attention given to the environment and, finally, processing and trading high quality and added value fig products, in the national but mainly in international market.
Facilities
In order to accomplish its goals, "SYKIKI" comprises the following:
- A modern processing and packaging facility for dried figs and producing fig paste in the industrial region of Kalamata, which, in turn, exhibits a yearly output of 4,000 tons of fig products.
- An assembly for the hygienic preservation of standardized and processed figs and fig paste, in the industrial area of Kalamata, where in the suitable storage plants the final and safe processing of products takes place, each of them packed and ready for export.
- Geographically distributed fig preservation units in the fig-growing regions of Messinia, Lakonia and Arkadia, where dried figs are being received, categorized into grades of quality, and are being preserved for a short period of time.
- Modern mechanical equipment upon which constant care is being applied aiming at correct preservation and upgrading

Τοπική συνεισφορά της "Συκικής"
Με την καλλιέργεια , την συσκευασία και διακίνηση του σύκου ασχολούνται περίπου 4.000 οικογένειες στους νομούς Μεσσηνίας, Λακωνίας, Αρκαδίας. Αναμφισβήτητα χρόνια τώρα , είναι πολύ μεγάλη η συμβολή και η συνεισφορά της “ΣΥΚΙΚΗΣ” στην τοπική οικονομία. Η “ΣΥΚΙΚΗ” αφουγκράζεται τις εξελίξεις και προσαρμόζεται στις σύγχρονες απαιτήσεις των καιρών. Η στήριξη των συκοπαραγωγών, η σύγχρονη οργάνωση και ο διαρκής εκσυγχρονισμός των υποδομών και των εγκαταστάσεων, αποτελούν εγγυητές της συνέχισης της επιτυχημένης πορείας. Βασική αξία αποτελεί η διασφάλιση της ποιότητας και η διατήρηση της καλής φήμης του Ελληνικού ξηρού σύκου παγκοσμίως.
